Virtual Cell Fly-Through Exhibit

Red Hill Studios developed this 3D interactive exploration of a human cell that is the centerpiece of the Reuben H. Fleet’s Cellular Journey Exhibition. Visitors stand on a custom built “CytoScooter” and navigate through a virtual human cell to learn about how cells work. This narrated tour introduces key organelles and explains their functions in the cell.

Pressure sensors in the base of the CytoScooter react as visitors shift their weight from side to side to control their view within the 3D world. Physical buttons on the CytoScooter’s handlebars allow visitors to travel and unlock 2D animations, or “closer looks,” which provide additional information about the key organelles.
